A private doctor's letter for work, study or travel.

This is a private doctor's note, not an NHS fit note. You answer a short online questionnaire; a UK GMC-registered doctor reviews it the same day and decides whether a letter can be issued.

From £32.99 per letter. Full refund if no letter is issued.

How it works

  1. A few minutes

Choose your letter, then answer a short online medical questionnaire.

  2. Same day

A UK GMC-registered doctor reviews it and decides whether a letter can be issued.

  3. Email and SMS

If approved, the signed letter is sent to you by email and SMS.

What the letter states

The doctor decides whether a letter can be issued and writes it, so here is what we can tell you about it rather than a sample.

If a letter is issued, it

  • is signed by a UK GMC-registered doctor
  • states the dates, for sick leave up to 6 weeks
  • arrives by email and SMS
  • can be checked at drsick.co.uk/verify

Whoever you send it to decides whether to accept it. Check their rules first.

Questions before you start

All questions →
Will they accept a private doctor's letter?
Employers, universities, insurers and airlines set their own evidence rules. Some accept a signed letter from a GMC-registered doctor; others ask for something specific. Check their rules before you order.
Is this an NHS sick note?
No. It is a private doctor's letter, not an NHS fit note, and it is not a GP appointment. A UK GMC-registered doctor reviews your online questionnaire.
What dates can the letter cover?
The doctor decides which dates, if any, the letter covers, based on your answers. One letter covers up to 6 weeks. For longer absences, see your GP.
How fast will I get it?
It depends on the speed you choose, from 72 hours to 2-hour urgent. Same day orders must be submitted by 6pm; urgent orders are taken from 6am to 10pm. Times are estimates.
What if the doctor can't issue a letter?
The doctor may decline. If no letter is issued, you get a full refund to your original payment method within 3 to 5 working days.

The questionnaire takes a few minutes. A doctor reviews it the same day.
